Hlevci is a small place in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, part of the municipality of Skrad, near Ravna Gora, located at 840 m above sea level.
The place is isolated enough for a perfect secluded vacation, in the middle of untouched nature, yet close enough to the facilities you might need during your vacation (the Rijeka-Zagreb highway is also nearby).
If you are adventurous and prefer an active holiday, you will find a lot of interesting things in the surroundings of the town!
Nearby are the protected landscapes Zeleni vir and Vražji prolaz. It is a special geomorphological reserve, which includes the Muževa híšica cave.
Zeleni vir is a wonderful source of emerald green color next to a high enchanting rock down which a mountain stream tumbles.
Devil’s Pass is an impressive 800 m long canyon through which the Jasle stream makes its way.
At the very end of the canyon is the entrance to the Muževa hišica cave, which is home to a strictly protected species of horseshoe bat.
Alpinism is not allowed in this area, but that’s why there is a charging station for electric bicycles in the center of Skrad, which you can use to tour and explore this area.
About 15 kilometers from Hlevci is the extremely interesting Lokvarka cave, considered by many to be the most beautiful cave in the Croatian karst. The cave has several galleries (levels), four of which are available for visitors to view.
At about the same distance, only in the other direction, is the Kamačnik canyon, a perfect place for lovers of active vacations.
Risnjak National Park is also nearby, and you only need an hour’s drive to reach the enchanting Plitvice Lakes National Park!
